A Case of Monocytic Leukemia

Abstract
A case of acute monocytic leukemia is presented.
A 42 year-old male was admitted to this hospital for a week¢¥s history of the swelling of both submaxillary area and the ulceration in the mucous membrane of the mouth.
Physical examination on admission revealed swelling on both submaxillary regions, anemic conjunctiva, ulcerated mucous membrane of the mouth, systolic murmur on the apex, palpable liver and spleen by 2 F. B. respectively, and tenderness on the RUQ.
The laboratory data showed as the following
in the peripheral blood, W. B. C. 108,150/mm3, R. B. C. 227X10¢¥¢¥/mm3, Hb. 6. 1 gm/dl, Ht. 19%, E. S. R. 73mm/hr, platelet 76X101/mm¢¥, n. seg. 2%, lymphocyte 16%, monocyte 16%, promoncyte 30%, blast cell 36%, bleeding time 4¢¥ 55", prothrombin time 92%.
In the bone marrow, blast cell 44%, monocyte 11.2%, lymphocyte 4.2%, metarubricyte 0.2%, promonocyte 37.4%, metamyelocyte 0.4%, rubricyte 2.4%, plasmocyte 0.2%,
On the hospital 10th day this patient was discharged without remarkable changes even though the active treatment was done and died of it 2 days later.
